The OPTHCare1.0 project – Optimization in Home Health Care 1.0 – aims to study, within the framework of Optimization and Operational Research, a set of problems that arise in the context of providing health care at home and that present various challenges. When we talk about home healthcare, we are referring to a range of medical or nursing care provided to patients in their own homes. This is an area of growing importance due to the aging population and the increase in chronic diseases, as well as the search for alternatives to hospitalization and the recognition of the benefits of receiving care in the comfort of one’s own home. Many of these services involve home visits for monitoring, treatment follow-up, medication administration, or other types of medical care or intervention. As home healthcare becomes an alternative to traditional hospitalization, the variety and complexity of services that can be provided at home has increased. These health services must provide complex and coordinated medical care to patients at home, covering an increasing number of situations and ensuring a high quality of service. These services allow patients to remain at home while improving their quality of life and reducing costs for healthcare systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Home health care services face challenges in the field of combinatorial optimization, such as assigning the appropriate technicians to each service, routing and scheduling patient visits, and allocating the resources needed to provide the services. These challenges arise in Combinatorial Optimization as problems of allocation, vehicle routing and visit scheduling. The constraints and requirements of home health care, such as considerations centred on the patient’s well-being, the specificities of the services to be provided and resource limitations, add complexity and specificity to these optimization problems. The aim of this project is to identify and consider some of the challenges faced when problems arise in the field of home health care. We will begin by considering the problems that arise when scheduling visits by technicians from different specialties. We will identify various characteristics associated with the scheduling of these visits, particularly with regard to setting the time of the visit, precedence between visits, the route of the technicians, the synchronization and the planning of the use of resources, especially scarce and shared resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
O projeto OPTHCare1.0 \u2014 Otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o de Cuidados de Sa\u00fade em Casa 1.0 (Optimization in Home Health Care 1.0) \u2014 pretende estudar, no \u00e2mbito da Otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o e da Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o Operacional, um conjunto de problemas que se colocam no contexto da presta\u00e7\u00e3o de cuidados de sa\u00fade em casa e que envolvem diversos desafios. Quando falamos em cuidados de sa\u00fade em casa, ou ao domic\u00edlio, referimo-nos a um conjunto de cuidados m\u00e9dicos ou de enfermagem que s\u00e3o fornecidos aos pacientes nos seus domic\u00edlios. Esta \u00e9 uma \u00e1rea de crescente import\u00e2ncia, por um lado, devido ao envelhecimento da popula\u00e7\u00e3o e ao aumento das doen\u00e7as cr\u00f3nicas e, por outro lado, devido \u00e0 procura de alternativas ao internamento hospitalar, bem como ao reconhecimento dos benef\u00edcios de usufruir destes cuidados no conforto do lar. Muitos destes servi\u00e7os envolvem a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de visitas domicili\u00e1rias para monitorizar, acompanhar tratamentos, administrar medicamentos ou realizar outro tipo de cuidados ou interven\u00e7\u00f5es m\u00e9dicas. Os cuidados de sa\u00fade ao domic\u00edlio revelam-se cada vez mais como uma alternativa \u00e0 hospitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o tradicional, pelo que a variedade e complexidade dos servi\u00e7os que \u00e9 poss\u00edvel realizar em casa tem aumentado. Estes servi\u00e7os de sa\u00fade devem proporcionar um atendimento m\u00e9dico complexo e coordenado a pacientes em casa, abrangendo um n\u00famero crescente de situa\u00e7\u00f5es e garantindo um servi\u00e7o de elevada qualidade. Estes servi\u00e7os permitem que os pacientes permane\u00e7am em casa, melhorando simultaneamente a sua qualidade de vida e reduzindo os custos para os sistemas de sa\u00fade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Os servi\u00e7os de cuidados de sa\u00fade ao domic\u00edlio enfrentam desafios no \u00e2mbito da otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o combinat\u00f3ria como a afeta\u00e7\u00e3o de t\u00e9cnicos apropriados a cada servi\u00e7o, o roteamento e o escalonamento das visitas aos pacientes, bem como a atribui\u00e7\u00e3o dos recursos necess\u00e1rios para a presta\u00e7\u00e3o dos servi\u00e7os. Estes desafios surgem no \u00e2mbito da Otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o Combinat\u00f3ria como problemas de afeta\u00e7\u00e3o, roteamento de ve\u00edculos e escalonamento de visitas. Os condicionalismos e requisitos da presta\u00e7\u00e3o de cuidados de sa\u00fade ao domic\u00edlio, como as considera\u00e7\u00f5es centradas no bem-estar do paciente, as especificidades dos servi\u00e7os a realizar e as limita\u00e7\u00f5es de recursos, acrescentam complexidade e especificidade a estes problemas de otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o. O objetivo deste projeto \u00e9 identificar e considerar alguns dos desafios enfrentados em casos de problemas no \u00e2mbito dos cuidados de sa\u00fade ao domic\u00edlio. Come\u00e7aremos por considerar problemas que ocorrem quando se programam visitas de t\u00e9cnicos de diferentes especialidades. Identificaremos v\u00e1rias caracter\u00edsticas associadas \u00e0 programa\u00e7\u00e3o destas visitas, nomeadamente no que se refere \u00e0 defini\u00e7\u00e3o da hora da visita, preced\u00eancias entre visitas, ao percurso dos t\u00e9cnicos, sincroniza\u00e7\u00e3o e \u00e0 planifica\u00e7\u00e3o da utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de recursos, principalmente os escassos e partilhados.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
